The 20-minute experiment

1. 1In Claude, open a conversation and type a genuinely hard question
2. 2Send it without thinking mode on and save the answer
3. 3Open the same conversation, click the sparkle icon next to the reply box (or look for 'Extended thinking' in settings)
4. 4Send the same question again with thinking mode on
5. 5Compare the two answers side by side

Show me your reasoning step by step, then give one recommendation and say what would change your mind.

• Same question sent twice (once without, once with thinking mode)
• Thinking mode answer was longer or more careful
• You found at least one place where thinking changed the answer
• Noted: thinking mode takes longer to reply
